Introduction of zafawalcity


Zafarwal (Urdu: ظفروال} is a town situated in the Narowal District of Punjab, Pakistan. It is located at 32°21'0N 74°54'0E with an altitude of 268 metres (882 feet). and is 70 km away from Indian-administered Kashmir, it was part of Kashmir during the rule of Ranjit Deo Singh. It was then transferred to Ahmad Shah Durrani as a gift. It stayed as a part of Kashmir until 1947. Lord Mountbatten of Burma included Zafarwal into West Punjab which would be transferred to Pakistan. This caused many Hindus to leave the land and migrate to Gurdaspur and Amritsar.
The Government of the Punjab has issued a notification granting tehsil status to Zafarwal from July 1, 2009.
